The Brief.
We were approached by the creative team at Camelot to offer website design services for local charity Watford Mencap. The National Lottery continue to support good causes in the surrounding community and called upon us to help them with advertising of the Watford Mencap’s 10K Run. It was important to provide a future-proof website, which could be updated by the charity volunteers without difficulty. The revised brand for the 10K Run would also need to attract
Our Approach.
Research
We took time to realise the easiest ways a user could apply to join the 10K run and setup a donation page. It was vital to realise the target audience for this website was very broad, so offering an easy to navigate layout and obvious call-to-action became apparent.
Planning
Setting out a clear schedule of work to ensure the 10K run would gain exposure before entries opened was important. To create a ‘hype’ around the event we planned a build-up of social media advertising prior to the website’s launch.
Website Development
While social media and local print advertising was distributed, our team progressed with developing and testing a brand new website on WordPress. Before launch, we worked with the charity volunteers to offer training on using WordPress enabling easy future updates.
Delivery
Following digital and local print advertising, we successfully delivered a brand new CMS-based website for Watford’s 10K Run with Watford Mencap.
Continued Growth.
Thanks to the success of the Watford 10K from affective marketing exposure, the team at Watford Mencap were able to organise a second charity run.
Our expandable design enabled the website to quickly be extended in response to the growth, offering a dedicated page for the Watford Santa Dash.
1st Place Results.
Delivery of the website included Search Engine Optimisation as part of our Robust Package. The slick new website sits first place on Google, placing the Watford 10K Run at the forefront of its audience.
